Liverpool could hand Andy Carroll his debut during Sunday's visit to West Ham.
The Reds' record signing was tipped to make his bow in next weekend's clash with Manchester United but his rehabilitation from a thigh injury, sustained prior to his move to Anfield, has progressed so rapidly that he stands an outside chance of featuring in the trip to Upton Park.
In securing his £35million switch to Merseyside earlier this month, Carroll, 22, became England's most expensive player and is expected to partner Luis Suarez, who is already earning rave reviews from the Kop after just two appearances.
