An excellent game ends in surprising fashion with Obafemi Martins vaulting Birmingham City to their first major trophy in almost fifty years thanks to a bizarre error by Arsenal's young goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. With Arsenal players looking as though they'd rather like the ground to swallow them whole, Birmingham and their fans are going mental - they've just beat the Gunners 2-1, won the League Cup, and have booked themselves a trip to the Europa League next year.
For huge swathes of the match, it looked as though Arsenal would win the game at a canter. Even after Nikola Zigic opened the scoring and City began to impose themselves on the match, Arsene Wenger's team of European superstars hauled themselves straight back into the match with a superb volley from Robin van Persie. They then proceeded to absolutely pepper Ben Foster's goal for the remainder of the first half and much of the second.
It looked as though Birmingham were going to be overwhelmed at one point, and that all they'd have to point to was luck - what if Lee Bowyer hadn't been incorrectly flagged offside in the first minute, leading to a red card for Szczęsny and a penalty after the midfielder was felled in the area? What if Keith Fahey's second-half shot had found the net rather than the inside of the post? What if Roger Johnson hadn't picked up that knee injury?
In one fell swoop, Martins consigned all of those what-ifs to the dustbin, smashing home from six yards in the 89th minute after Laurent Koscielny and Szczęsny collided to leave the ball sitting free directly in front of Arsenal's goal. There was no turning back for Arsenal or for City. Amazingly, astonishingly, Birmingham City are your 2011 Carling Cup champions.

West Ham Vs. Liverpool: Hammers Use 3-1 Win To Climb Out Of Cellar

Though the match started slow for West Ham, the home side ended-up with a comfortable victory over Liverpool, staking goals from Scott Parker, Demba Ba and Carlton Cole to a 3-1 win. With the three points, Avram Grant's side climbs into 18th place, with only goal difference separating the Hammers from safety.
Through the first 20 minutes, West Ham played the part of cellar dwellers, giving Liverpool's defense little to consider. Then in the 23rd minute, a burst of activity from Scott Parker allowed Thomas Hitzlsperger to send his captain in on goal, with a right-footed stab from the edge of the area catching Pepe Reina off-guard. Beating the Liverpool `keeper at the left post, Parker put West Ham up 1-0.
Though Liverpool would quickly generate a chance for Dirk Kuyt, the Reds were largely silent in response to the goal, allowing West Ham to double their lead just before half time. A ball out of the back from Robert Green was won by Demba Ba, the Senegalese striker heading down and to the right flank before turning toward goal. Gary O'Neil found Ba, unmarked, for a lunging header, beating Reina into the upper right corner. The goal sent West Ham into half up 2-0.
Liverpool failed to change the match's story after intermission, having to wait until the 84th minute to threaten for a point. Then, Luis Suarez created a goal for Glen Johnson, sending a ball across the six from the left, allowing the Reds fullback to run on for an easy goal.
But the Reds were unable to create any momentum from that goal, and seven minutes later, West Ham sealed the match. In the first minute of stoppage time, a ball out of West Ham's end found Carlton Cole, who beat Martin Skrtel and raced toward Liverpool's goal. Pulling-up from 17 yards out, Cole beat Reina near post with a left-footed shot, giving the Hammers a 3-1 victory.
The win moves West Ham to 28 points and 18th place, with goal difference slotting them between Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. Liverpool misses a chance to put distance between themselves and seventh place Bolton, who remain two points behind the Reds.

BN dicabar Pas di Merlimau

Pilihan raya kecil Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) N.27 Merlimau pada 6 Mac ini menyaksikan pertembungan satu lawan satu antara calon Barisan Nasional (BN) dan Pas.
BN mempertaruhkan Ahli Jawatankuasa UMNO Bahagian Jasin, Roslan Ahmad, 44, manakala Pas meletakkan Timbalan Ketua Dewan Pemudanya, Yuhaizad Abdullah, 38.
Pegawai Pengurus Pilihan Raya DUN Merlimau, Roslan Eusoff mengumumkan nama kedua-dua calon pada pukul 11. 25 pagi 26 Februari di Dewan Platinum Politeknik Merlimau.

Ahli Jawatankuasa Umno Jasin Roslan Ahmad dinamakan sebagai calon Barisan Nasional (BN) untuk pilihan raya kecil kerusi Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Melaka kawasan Merlimau. Pemilihan Roslan, 44, diumumkan oleh Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin di hadapan lebih 2,000 ahli dan pemimpin UMNO serta parti komponen BN di Bilik Gerakan BN Pekan Merlimau February 23, 2011.

Kerusi DUN Merlimau kosong berikutan kematian wakil rakyatnya, Datuk Mohamad Hidhir Abu Hassan pada 20 Jan lepas akibat serangan jantung.
Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya telah menetapkan 6 Mac depan sebagai tarikh pengundian, manakala penamaan calon pada 26 Feb ini.
